Report from Plancius d.d. 25 March, 2011

Voyage PLA30 15 - 26 March, mv Plancius reports: We are now heading towards Ushuaia, concluding another successful Antarctic season aboard the Plancius ! This has been an awesome trip providing such a beautiful end to our Antarctic summer… The weather gods have been with us all along and we made our way and achieved all of our intende...d landings from the South Shetland Islands down to below the Antarctic Circle ! Humpback Whale © Rinie van Meurs - Oceanwide ExpeditionsWe contemplated many glassy seas where the mountains and glaciers reflect almost exactly in the water. We met several curious humpback whales that came to watch us just a few meters away from the Plancius. We even observed a big pod of Antarctic Orcas in the Cristal Sound while blue icebergs were composing the background !
Icebergs of all sort, hundreds of seals and penguins were also part of the trip. We kayaked, we hiked, we strolled, we even swam : we all had a brilliant time !
