Expedition news
17-11-2009 | Report from Professor Molchanov
Our ships are not the first to arrive in the area this season as the ice is really heavy in the East. The first day at sea from South Georgia was a fairly rough and most people had a lie-in. Yesterday turned out very nice and relatively calm as the vessel cruised the ice edge northwest of Coronation Island seeing lots of Fin Whales, Antarctic Petrels, Snow Petrels as well as the usual suspects of birdlife eg. Cape Petrels.
The plans have obviously changed quite a bit which means that tomorrow there will be a landing planned at Aitcho Island in the morning, head for Deception Island in the afternoon.
PNews items are updated irregularly.
